Old elk bourbon twitter8/13/2023 ![]() Really solid, well orchestrated wheated bourbon. There's tons of character here, and the oak, sweetness and light fruit are perfect bedfellows. Lovely complexity once again, plenty of sweet, tannins and light fruit to stay interesting. Brown sugar, brown butter, a bit of oak and more tobacco. Really enjoyable caramel / creme brulee character here, with a hint of light fruit - white grape and peach. Cream, light oak, some pepper and tobacco. Sweet cream, brown sugar, honey, praline and a bit of toffee. ![]() Please see the FAQ for more.ĭistilled by Greg Metze for MGP in Indiana and bottled by Greg Metze for Old Elk in Colorado, this particular bottling is the brand's Wheated Bourbon, aged 5 years and bottled at 46% ABV. Raided Score is a conversion from an external site's score, to our in house uniform scoring system. It’s altogether agreeable, but like many young wheated bourbons, it’s not really a showstopper. Joined by Greg Metze, former master distiller at MGP in Indiana, the company is currently in the final stages of opening a 35,000 square foot distillery and aging warehouse in Fort Collins, Colorado.
